I cultured 1 mL of my own blood on a nutrient agar plate (well, sterilized pickle jar) (temperature 55-62F) for 3 days. I got about 60 colonies of what look like E.coli, and maybe 5 or so smaller intensely white colonies. Some of the control plates also developed a few colonies later. Sterilization needs some more work.

I did not swab with iodine before the blood was drawn (only alcohol), but everything else was sterile. Not much confidence in this result. Blood drawing tips.
