The Rite of Spring

It was the first day of Spring and the world around me knew it. I stopped to visit the Tesuque pueblo – the last of the remaining 19 pueblos, to find the natural world alive. Although the stream did not have a lot of water,

the birds,

the butterflies

and the spiders

outdid themselves performing magnificent acrobatics

as I watched their enticing dances and listened to their calls. I even found some bird tracks in the sand along the river.

The pueblo is know for Camel Rock, the rock that looks like a camel.
