Shabbat

אני הבאתי כרובית הקטנה ושיחי עגבניות בפנים.מזג האוויר קבל הרבה יותר קר. זה יהיה להקפיא השבוע.

We will see how everything in the garden survives.  The slugs damaged the broccoli a little during the hurricane.  I guess they were hungry and worried.

המכונית שלי לא הייתה זמינה אתמול בלילה. אני עדיין עושה כביסה באמבטיה. למרבה הצער, את הטלפון שלי עשה לו אמבטיה, וזה אומר שכל מספרי הטלפון שלי הולכים לאיבוד.

So, no more phone calls to friends, or the kids.

הלכתי לשיעורים עברים הבוקר

I learned how to say “Thank you, my teacher.”  and “You’re welcome”, as well as the basic pronouns I, you, he/she, they and who.  I learned the plurals, and the words for home, boy, girl, and teacher and how to make the possessive.  I also learned that gender is redundantly inflected in Hebrew.  So that the sentence “This old girl ran.” would have all 3 non-noun words reflect the feminine class – the article, the adjective, and the verb (as well as the noun ending in ה).

.ילדה בת זה רץ

The equivalent sentence “This old boy ran.” would look like this.

.הבחור הזה של ריצה

girl יַלְדָּה

young girl  בַּחוּרָה

young boy בָּחוּר

The Aaronic blessing (Numbers 6:24-26)
